18th Century French Louis XV Fall-Front Desk, Fruitwood Marquetry

Elegant fall-front desk (bureau) from the second half of the 18th century, entirely veneered in fruitwoods (probably walnut, cherry and burl) arranged with great care to form a lively geometric interplay of panels, lozenges and herringbone patterns, underlined by thin light-wood stringing. The design, with a typically 18th-century flavour, gives the piece a refined and dynamic appearance, with warm, golden reflections.
