Antique French Napoleon III Boulle Game Table in Rosewood with Brass and Tortoiseshell Inlay

Elegant French game table from the Napoleon III period, dating from the second half of the 19th century, crafted in rosewood and richly decorated with brass and tortoiseshell Boulle marquetry.

The folding and hinged top features a large central panel decorated with scrolling foliage and arabesques, framed by fine stringing and an elegant gilt-bronze border. The same refined decoration is repeated on the drawer front, which is fitted with a lock and surrounded by a beaded moulded frame.

The table rests on four turned and fluted legs inspired by the Louis XVI style, enriched with gilt-bronze capitals and decorative mounts. The legs are connected by a shaped stretcher supporting a small central platform decorated with matching marquetry.

A refined example of Napoleon III furniture, combining precious materials, Boulle marquetry and neoclassical decorative elements.
